מה שאני לא מצליח להבין הוא אם בסוף המטרה היא אושרך שלך למה תמיד ראנד מציגה את האהבה הרומנטית כפסגת הכל? זאת אומרת שבסוף האדם כן זקוק לאנשים אחרים (או לפחות לבן או בת זוג). ניתן להגיד שגם האהבה הרומנטית היא ביטוי לאגואיזם- משום שאני אוהב את אהובתי בגלל שהיא גורמת לי להרגיש טוב. אבל למה היא גורמת לי להרגיש טוב? בין השאר בגלל שהיא יפה, טובת לב וחכמה. אבל מכך יוצא שאני כן תלוי בזולת: אני תלוי בזה שאהובתי תתקיים בעולם. בנוסף: ראנד אומרת שחיי יצרנות הם דבר קריטי ובלעדיהם אין לאדם אושר. אבל עבור מי אני יוצר אם אין אנשים אחרים? האם אדם יכול להתמלא בסיפוק אם הוא יצר משהו בעצמו (נעזוב כרגע את העובדה שאדם בעצמו לא יכול ליצור כמעט שום דבר, הוא זקוק לידע ולהכשרה ולשיתוף פעולה של אנשים אחרים) בלי שהדבר מביא תועלת למישהו אחר? נניח שאדם חי לבד (שוב, סצנה דמיונית משום שאדם לא מסוגל לשרוד לבד אלא אם כן הוא עבר הכשרה ארוכה מאוד שמניחה את קיומם של מורים אנושיים שעזרו לו בכך) והוא ממציא חכה שעוזרת לו לדוג יותר דגים בפחות מאמץ. מעבר לאושר הרגעי שהוא חווה כשהוא מבין את משמעות ההמצאה- איזה אושר יש לו מכך? מהר מאוד הוא יבין שכל מה שהחכה נתנה זה לאכול קצת יותר דגים. ואז הוא יזלזל בחכה ויראה בה דבר חסר תועלת שהרי מה היא הועילה לו? להיות קצת יותר שמן? לעומת זאת אם יש לו אהובה והוא נותן לה את החכה ורואה כמה היא מאושרת אז האושר שלו גדול עשרות מונים מן המקרה בו הוא חי לבד. זה מראה שהאדם לא מפיק את אושרו מן האגואיזם אלא מכך שהוא גורם שמחה לאנשים אחרים. כלומר אני מפיק הנאה מכך שאני גורם להם הנאה. אז שוב, אני כן תלוי באחר ביחס לאושרי. לכן אני חושב שכל התפיסה הכביכול מהפכנית של ראנד לא מחזיקה מים. אשמח לתגובה ואשמח אם תצליחו להוכיח לי אם אני טועה. תודה.

wow... just wow... I mean... doesn't this sound like some Reich I know? So many flawed arguments in such a short amount of time. So it's OK to invade countries because we're morally superior? It's OK to take their land and violently suppress their resistance if what we want to build in their land is better than what they had? Doesn't that sound like some war criminals we know? Then he goes on to claim that the reason he was given not to violently kill Palestinians and destroy their land and properties is because they are weak? Who says that? You should not commit war crimes because: 1. you should not commit war crimes 2. you're supposed to be a morally superior nation ... ? maybe ? But also because they have a fairly good reason for being pissed off at Israel, when you took their land and forced 50% of the population of that area to live in 6% of the land (that is obviously the Palestinians) ... if the only form of you building a lovely nice, equality for all nation, requires you to slaughter, and rob, and kill your neighbours, perhaps you should either consider building such society elsewhere, or offer a better deal and work genuinely with your neighbours, understand where they coming from ... Don't know, I'm not the famous Author. I mean is not like your country's survival is at stake or anything like that (being in the middle of the middle east)
